Kentucky unemployment drops to 8.2 percent

Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate fell to 8.2 percent in May 2012 from a revised 8.3 percent in April 2012.

May is the 10th consecutive month of jobless rate decline, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.

The preliminary May 2012 jobless rate was 1.4 percentage points below the 9.6 percent rate recorded a year earlier.

The U.S. unemployment rate increased slightly, to 8.2 in May 2012 from 8.1 in April, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
